Researchers at the University of British Columbia and the University of Alberta have confirmed, based on World Health Organization studies, that from 8,000 to 24,000 new cases of cancer occur in Canada yearly due to pollution. This finding is a shock to Canadians who recycle, bicycle or walk whenever possible. But rampant industrialized waste and a lack still, of stringent enough regulations, are causing misery among those exposed to these toxins.

If this is happening in pristine Canada, how is your national back yard? We all need to be aware of toxins in our own home, under the sink, in the basement or garage. If is has been simmering away for some time, take it away. Recycling depots are now common, but we learn all too common is that those toxic expensive bits are pulled out by hand in Asia, and then the plastic burnt off to salvage the copper wire, that smoke and ash drifting across the Pacific onto Americas forests and into Americas lungs.

By the billions, as you can imagine, and increasing daily. Like the world temperature, merrily skipping upward. Is any one able to measure those skipping upward numbers by the time and let us know when the sea will be up to our ankles? Our knees? When should we open a gondola franchise?

There is hope. And even while additional mineral and oil sands projects go into higher gear, we need to ensure that we become world leaders, not followers, in helping create a greener world. That U.N. World Clock is ticking, showing how the earth average temperature is now 14.1 something to the tenth power.

And it is those farthest numbers to the right that we should be paying more attention: they are merrily skipping upwards as you watch. No up or down movement at any time you watch. Especially, we in the west need to clean up our act, and then help the developers such as China and India with our technology: common reason must prevail.

And if babies are being stillborn in healthy Canada due to pollution, imagine how bad and worse it is getting in so many third world nations, where bribes to officials still allow ecological nightmares.

We all breath the same air and share the ocean wastes. We need to grow up and accept that there is not a potty section in the pool any more. Let us be aware that we need to personally do all we can to green up, but also to encourage our governments, at every level, to get off the pot. Or out of the pool. Or at least clean up after.

Food allergies are quite common with kids. In the US as many as two million children are affected by these allergies. Some allergies may be very harmful even though it is consumed in very small quantities. Peanuts are one of those foods that are on top of the list which cause most allergies. After these peanuts are milk especially cows milk and then follow the others like eggs, soy, other nuts and sea food.

When your immune system is confused, then these food allergies come up. The immune system helps in protecting the body from viruses, diseases, bacteria and germs. The body produces some antibodies which help in fighting away these harmful organisms. So if you are allergic to any sort of food then the body treats this food as a foreign substance which is harmful. This is when the body acts adversely even when it is not supposed to do.

When an allergic substance is detected by the immune system then the anti bodies do produce mast cells. Certain types of cells that are produced by the immune system are histamine. This is produced into the blood stream. These chemicals do affect the digestive system, respiratory system, eyes, nose, skin and throat. The symptoms that you get initially are a tingling sensation on the tongue or the lips, running nose or an itchy rash on the skin. Reactions vary from individual to individual and may be mild or severe. Reactions may appear very quickly or even after a few hours of consumption of food. Diarrhea, nausea, hoarse voice, wheezing, vomiting, throat tightness and cough may be other symptoms.

Anaphylaxis is a harsh and a sudden allergic reaction. Patients encounters many a problem at one go which involve the heart, blood vessels, breathing, digestions and the skin. The tongue may swell; the pressure may drop and there may be swelling in the breathing tube. Such people should be in a position to handle emergencies. Carrying medicines that will help in reducing or combating the adverse affects of the foods will help.

It is quite simple to detect the cause of an allergy. Hives do begin to surface once the child has taken in a substance he or she is allergic to. Otherwise it is pretty difficult to find the cause of an allergy. In these cases do make sure that whatever you take is observed well to find the problem. Foods which are made of many ingredients need to be checked before it is given to the child.Change in the surrounding may also cause this problem. Some kids who are actually not allergic to these foods show reactions that are very mild. Some children who are intolerant to lactose do suffer from belly pain or diarrhea once they consume diary products or milk. This only happens as the body is not being able to break off sugars that are found in these milk products.

A doctor can be consulted if the problems seem to be very severe. For food allergies go to an allergy doctor. The specialist will ask you many questions on food and also on allergy related things. Blood and skin tests are done to check on the reactions anti bodies have on the skin.

Children who are allergic to milk and eggs grow out of their allergies. Some allergies last for a lifetime. The best way to keep off from allergies is to keep off form its cause. There have been no medicines specifically made to cure allergies.
