What does the dolphin in the Old Man and the Sea symbolism? I can’t figure it out. Does it represent survival? Or what? Please Help. Thanks.

    I understand thta this may not be what you’re looking for, not at all, but Stenbeck said something along the lines of, “The Old Man and the Sea has no symbolism. It is the man and the sea.”

    Survival – The old man eats only out of necessity.

    He hopes for a dolphin so he’ll have something to eat.
