What Proportion Of Sea Salt To Water Should I Use In A Sea Salt Spray For Hair?
I’d like to know exactly how much sea salt and water to mix together to form a styling spray for my hair. This concoction is supposed to make your hair easy to style and look like you’ve been surfing all day – soft and wavy.

1 tsp per 8oz of water. Dont use more than that or it can really dry out your hair. Or you can just put 1/2 a table spoon in a 16 oz bottle of water and store it in the fridge until use. After its mixed, put it in a spray bottle, spritz the hair and braid it in several loose braids at night, untie and spritz w a bit more salt water and u are good to go. Sea salt is relatively inexpensive, those salt water styling products cost up wards of $5.

Why not just buy a product from the store? Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray is supposed to work very good!!
“SURF SPRAY
Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, one of Bb’s first products to debut and has earned its place as a classic. It’s a setting spray that adds body and makes hair feel thicker, but soft, and never gummy. It also tames frizz and flyaways. It contains Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein which moisturizes, conditions and helps repair environmental or chemical damage.Even if you are miles from the beach, get that sexy, salty, wind-styled texture (which always seems a shame to rinse away) with plenty of hold and a matte finish. Seaweed extract helps retain moisture.”

Don’t do it – it does not make your hair soft – it will suck all the moisture out of it and make it like straw – how do I know this? I have lived in Hawaii for over a decade and am in the surf and sun constantly – I stick a lot of UV protection on my hair.

One part sea salt to five parts warm water and dissolve before use.
Yes it will make your hair very dry, so use a chelating shampoo and a deep conditioner in between to balance.
